The Zen 3 preamp is a modified version of the Zon ZP-3 onboard preamp. The original actually had two EQ circuits: the incredible 3-band with variable frequency mid and treble controls featured on this PCB, and another for the piezo pickups on each bridge saddle. It also included a buffered blend circuit for the two magnetic pickups.

For this version we’ve stripped it down to just the 3-band EQ section and re-worked the power, input, and output stages to make it pedal- and user-friendly. The mid and treble controls each have 4 selectable frequencies, and the bass response is smooth and musical, giving you a huge range of tones from deep, rounded lows to crisp, articulate highs.

The end result is a unique and powerful tone-shaping tool, and honestly my favorite out of all the onboard preamp pedal PCBs I’ve designed (so far). Whether you’re after hi-fi clarity, subtle EQ sculpting, or bold tonal shaping, the Zen 3 delivers boutique preamp performance in a format that’s easy to build into your own pedal.
