Here's one the few active onboard preamps that's designed for guitar, not bass.
This PCB is based on the EQ circuit from the 1978 Music Man Sabre II. While it shares a lot of DNA with the classic 2-band Stingray design, the Sabre II has a different voice tailored for guitar frequencies. The result is a versatile active EQ that can push your clean tones into sparkling clarity or drive your amp with extra punch and character.
With independent Treble and Bass controls offering both cut and boost and a brightness toggle switch, this preamp delivers a powerful but musical range of tones. Whether you want to brighten up a dark guitar, tighten up the low end, or just add some extra presence to cut through a mix, the Sabre II circuit is simple, effective, and unique.
We’ve adapted the original onboard design for use as a pedal, making it easier to build and integrate into your rig.
