Limited Edition #3 of 3.
Death Ripple is the result of a challenge I set myself. I wanted to recreate the Echo Dream II in a single sized 125B enclosure while also adding in a couple of extra features.
The original circuit can be operated at between 9 or 18v with quite different results at either end. This version includes the usual DIY mod of an always-on voltage doubler to supply 18v to the circuit. It's a handy mod but there's problem: If you want to run the circuit at 9v you can't.
There are two ICs that use this power rail; the opamp for the fuzz section and the waveform generator which controls the modulation. I've added DIP switches that allow you to independently switch between 9v or 18v for each of these chips so you can mix and match to unlock even more crazy tones from this already insanely versatile circuit.
This version uses the same NOS MC33172 opamps as the original and NOS Exar XR2206 ICs as the new production HLF remakes don't function the same at 9v. These are expensive and difficult to source, hence the limited run.
Controls
- Level - Master volume.
- Fuzz - Acts like a gain control, starts getting dirty around 12o'clock and gets progressively nastier from there. Will reduce volume as it gets more distorted.
- Mix (Silver Knob)- Volume of the delay signal.
- Time - Sets the time of the delay from between 20ms and 1 second.
- Repeats - Sets the amount of repeats.
- Depth - Controls how much the modulation effects the delay, as it's turned up the pitch of the delay repeats will shifted further.
-
Speed - Sets the speed of the modulation oscillator.
-
Dry Kill - Mutes the dry signal in the up position.
-
Wave - Switches the wave shape for the modulation.
