Formerly known as "The Really Good Onboard Preamp".
Alongside the new name this latest revision introduces a couple of useful upgrades. Two additional ground pads have been added to make wiring and instrument grounding much easier. There are also two new VOUT pads that can be used to power active pickups or any additional onboard circuitry you’d like to integrate. These new pads are placed after the polarity-protection diode, so anything powered from these pads will also be protected.
The Mid Monster was the very first entry in our line of high-quality onboard bass preamps. The circuit in this model is based around (and differs very little from) the circuit in the popular Tone Capsule preamp and offers the same controls and frequency response.
The vision with this line of preamps is to offer the same high-quality components and performance you would expect from premium or “boutique” options at a very affordable price by offering them in a “bare bones” format. This allows you freedom of choice in sourcing or recycling the required hardware and still provides fantastic value if you chose to employ a professional to do the install or a substantial return on time investment if you perform your own installation.
